Mark is a self taught pastel artist born locally and who has lived in Axminster, Devon all his life. Axminster itself borders on the Dorset and Somerset counties which brings countless opportunities and inspiration for Marks detailed pastel landscapes and seascapes, which are inspired by the coastline and picturesque areas on his doorstep.
Mark being self taught homed his skills carrying out commission work as a portrait and landscape artist perfecting his technique to achieve a photographic look to his artwork using pastels and pastel pencils.
Since 2020 when Mark started to take his passion and hobby to the next level to become a professional artist he has won the Gold UK Artists Award 2021 and more recently has reached the international finals of the acclaimed Art Unlimited uk/international Competition 2022, 2023, 2024. In 2025/26 Mark won an artistic merit from acclaimed Art&Colour 365 magazine in America for his pet portrait work and realism work for his seascapes, most recently a finalist in the acclaimed Palais de vanches Gallery exhibition for his acclaimed Seascapes.
